The Meeting of the Irish in Spain

Wouldn't it be great to meet many other Irish people in Spain? Imagine an Irish meet-up for Irish people living in Spain - to share their ideas, thoughts and to get to know one another.

Add to it, all Spanish people interested in Irish Activities and Ireland.

Well That's what this is. On the weekend of the All-Ireland Gaelic Football Final - 18th to 20th September, Madrid will host this first social meeting of Irish people in Spain.

So for Irish residents in Spain, people interested in Ireland, anyone interested in meeting new friends… it’s time for us to meet up and to share experiences and projects in the coming month of September (19th-20th) in Madrid

• Featuring Irish from all walks of life, from Business Executives, to Musicians, Academics to GAA Players in Spain, this is a chance for the Irish in Spain to make its mark.

• Featuring Spaniards with a love for or passion for Ireland, the Irish, Irish Culture, or married to someone Irish.

THIS IS TO BE A FREE EVENT AND WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS AND SOME SPONSORS FOR THIS GATHERING OF IRISH IN SPAIN

• 11:30 - Official Opening Speech
• 11:45 Special Guest Speakers
• 12:00 Launch of 'In Spain - The Irish News Network in Spain'
• 12:15-13:15 Discussion Panel "In Spain, Keeping in touch with Ireland" with open Q&A - with Irish-Spain Cultural, Sport, Business, Music and Academic Representation
• 13:20 - Presentation of Prize for Naming the Gathering
• 14:00 - 17:00 Lunch at The Irish Rover (Avda. Brasil, 7)
• *followed by Variety of Entertainment, Drink, Craic and ??? until late... your suggestions welcome
• 17:00-18:00 - II Hibernosfera: (Irish-Spain Bloggers) at Irish Rover (Avda. Brasil, 7) or Finbars Irish Pub (tbd)
• 17:00-20:00 - Meet-up of the Spanish-Irish Business Network Members (tba)
• 21:00 Dinner followed by a great Music Session at Finbars Irish Pub

UPDATES & NEWS

As you may know, Europeanirish and Innisfree are organising the first official gathering for Irish/Ireland-lovers in Spain. We have everything ready for the weekend of the 19th- 20th September. We`ve planned something interesting for the morning time and we’ve chosen one of the best Irish pubs to taste the Irish flavours in Madrid. We`ve organized a place where bloggers can meet up, which will be their second meeting (the first time they got together was in June 2008). And to finish off the day, we’ve organised a jam session in a traditional Irish pub, where everyone will be able to show off their musical talent.

So, what’s left? Lets see … a name for this gathering! Would you like to help us? If so, you can submit your ideas to Europeanirish or Innisfree - we’ll upload all the names received to www.europeanirish.com. And as a reward for your time and effort, the winner will be awarded an important prize to be given on the 19th of September in Madrid.

Rafel Hotel is a very convenient place to stay, as it's right beside the Irish Rover. We've arranged a special ratefor all those who would like to attend this gathering.
