Cycling: Tralee 18-year old signs for French Cycling team

Tommy Campbell on Irish cycling.com reports that Kerry’s 18-year old Denis Dunsworth has signed for AC lancaster 56, an ‘Orange’ telecom sponsored team based in Lorient France. He was observed as he had a chance on winning the National Martin Donnelly Junior Tour earlier in the year.
He also won a race in Tramain in July, afterwhich he was asked to sign for the 1st Division team for the 2008 season.

He joins more than 15 U23’s in this squad . Through this team , there are opportunities to feed through to top teams like “Credit Agricole”

In Spain this week and next - Equestrian - Show-jumping: FEI Nations Cup Series CSIO5* Gijon

Top Irish team competes for the Nations Cup in Spain from 29th Aug to 2nd Sept.

Showjumping continues with the Super League  in Barcelona from 13th to 16th Sept.
Cycling: La  Vuelta de Espana starts from the line on 7th Sept and continues through to the  17th Sept.

Boxing: Senior Men’s, BOXAM-2007. starts at the end of next mointh30th September.

Former Sorrento CC rider Chris Jensen followed in the footsteps of 1999 winner Fabian Cancellara when he won the Tour du Pays de Vaud in Switzerland over the weekend.
Jensen grew up in Ireland but has moved to Vejle and changed his racing licence from an Irish one, declaring for Denmark and riding the junior race with the national team. The squad was fourth in the opening team time trial last Thursday, conceding eight seconds to winners Switzerland. He was then 19th on day two, finishing 28 seconds behind solo victor Alexander Grad (Baveria).

Cycling: Ireland`s Roche shows well in the Giro d’Italia

Shane Stokes reports from Sardinia’s third stage of the Giro d’Italia, how Nicholas Roche led the Giro d’Italia 3rd stage with just 1 KM to go, but was caught by the peloton with just 500 metres to go in the stage.
He crossed in the main bunch, clocking the same time as the winner. 
Roche is 100th overall, 2 minutes and 50 seconds back

After stage 2 his Crédit Agricole squad were well positioned at 8th place out of 22 teams.
