The bout began, and Bernard Dunne against some advice, went for his opponent, Kiko Martinez from the start, instead of taking his time to get to know his opponent, and keeping him at arms length, and working his own defence.
This decision openned Bernard Dunne’s defence, and when the Spaniard Kiko came at Dunne straight from the bell, Bernard tried to counter attack - but landed on the canvas with an opening blow to the top of his head.
Not shaken, it would seem, Dunne was straight back up to his feet, gesturing that he had slipped. Moments later he was knocked down again.
When he was back on his feet after a 2nd count, Kiko la Sensacion came in for the kill, a barage of punches left Dunne stunned - the referee stepped in as Dunne dropped to one knee. All over.
