All-Ireland Hurling Final - Limerick V Kilkenny, Live across Europe this Sunday

Friday, August 31st, 2007

The First Sunday of September is All-Ireland Hurling Final Day.
This Sunday watch the All-ireland Hurling Final Live across Continental Europe -

Find the venues that are showing the All-Ireland Finals only on EuropeanIrish.com.

http://www.europeanirish.com/Sport/GAA/liveirishsport.html

Limerick having fought bravely against Tipperary - taking a 2nd replay to eventually seperate the sides.
Limerick played for a titanic 60 minutes against Waterford in the Munster SemiFinal, but Waterford had powered away in the last 10 minutes  - when Waterford eventually won by 9 points.

Limerick regrouped and kept playing for the 70 minutes in the Quarter final clash with Clasre, defeating their neighbours by a comfortable 7 points.

Meeting the Deise again in the Semi-Final - who everyone expected to win the All-Ireland Final this year - presented a humongous task. No-one had given Limerick a chance against their Munster rivals, - except themselves.

Limerick powered to a 5-goal spree to win 5-11 to 2-15

And are in the All-Ireland Final against the might Cats of Kilkenny, this Sunday.

So - Munster were Heineken Cup Champions in 2006.

What does 2007 hold for Limerick - the All-Ireland hurling title?

Kilkenny are the Kings of Hurling in Ireland fo the past 7 years.
In Kilkenny, hurling is everything.

You don’t find too much Rugby, Gaelic Football or soccer in Kilkenny.

To wear the Kilkenny jersey on their Senior Hurling squad is something very special.
only All-Ireland victory is in the team’s sights. This is the ONLY goal, the only metric by which the team is measured.

Leinster Hurling - the 2 other traditional Hurling counties to compete with Kilkenny are Offaly and Wexford.
This year Kilkenny played Offaly first in the Leinster Semi-Final, Offaly who are complaining that they should be allowed back into nrext year’s league after a poor national League performance. Kilkenny scored a whopping 1-27 equivalent to 30 points  against Offaly, winning by 14 points.

In the Leinster Final the rest of the nation hoped that Wexford would give Kilkenny a tougher test.

Kilkenny scored 2-24, equivalent to 30 points again, winning this time by 15 points.

Kilkenny breezed through to the All-Ireland Quarter Final clash against Galway. Galway were under the steam of Ger Loughnane who had managed Clares successes in the 1995/97 era.

Galway kept with Kilkenny for the first 3/4 of the match. Kilkenny were having none of this Galway revival nonsense, and cracked in 3 goals and 22 points against Galway, (equivalent to 31 points), while Galway’s 1-18 left them 10 points adrift in the end.

Onto the All-Ireland Semi-Final for a clash against Tipperary - oh wait ! Tipperary are beaten in the Quarter Final clash by Wexford!
So Kilkenny meet Wexford in the All-Ireland Semi-Final - a team they already hammered a month earlier.

Wexford kept with Kilkenny for most fo the first half. But a match lasts for 70 minutes, not 25. Kilkenny ran out easy winners scoring 23 points to Wexford’s 13.

Kilkenny are in the All-Ireland Final, and the nearest any team has been in the championship- is 10 points down.

Who would your money be on?

–Sunday, August 5 -
