Golf: a 7 over final round was no Classic for Gary Murphy

After tying for the lead after day1, day2 and day 3, Gary had been enjoying his finest run in a European Competition on top of the leader board in the Mallorca Classic, a competition he just had to do well in. Coming into this tournament, he was lying at 118th place on the European Order of merit and with only 118 places on the tour he was in real danger of losing this card for next year, in this - the final tour-open of the season.

Although his challenge for the title faded on day4, with a 7+ round, his good earlier rounds and finish at 13th gave him a cheque of more than €26k bringing him to 104th safe-guarding his card for the ciming year.

Paul McGinley was the best of the Irish at 6th place following his closing round of 67, securing himself a €56k cheque.
